Buckley Old Engine Show

The show doesn't stop at 5:00 PM, only the working exhibits. There are still tractors to view and stationary engines, and the Flea Market is busy until 7:00 PM. After dark there is a Spark Show from a tractor or Traction Steam Engine. Below is Dragon Fire, preformed by Richard Fruin of DeWitt, MI. A propane torch is connected to the exhaust of a tractor to create an after-burner for the unburned fuel from the engine.

Most nights a steam engine is belted up to the Prony Brake to load the engine so it will huff-n-puff. Then a carefully built fire topped off with a load of sawdust results in a spectacular display of sparks. One can see why they used long belts and watched the wind when threshing grain, especially near a barn.

Even though there is music and dancing all day long at the Music Pavillion on the hill, it is especially popular in the evenings. There is usually also music and dancing in the Sam Zue Building and just easy listening at the other Music Building. Music can be enjoyed until 11:00 PM or til whenever.

Maybe a moment of quite and reflection is required. Perhaps a visit to the Small Chapel to remember someone from your past. The Small Chapel was created in honor of our departed members.
